When You Need To Replace Your Hot Water Heater

When You Need To Replace Your Hot Water Heater

by Carol Richardson

You know it's time to replace your hot water heater when it constantly breaks down and if it has served you for more than 10 years. Some owners who previously owned gas-powered heaters have opted for electric ones simply because the latest models out in the market now are more durable and have been designed to be energy-efficient. In fact, tankless heaters are known to last as long 20 years. When you think about it, that's worth the investment even if the units themselves cost more.

Appliances eventually break down. You know this for a fact. And from the ones you have at home, water heaters go through the most wear and tear. But when you can, be prudent about proper care and maintenance. It doesn't take much to do this. The biggest task will be draining the tank, which can be done twice yearly.

Ask any homeowner and they can tell you that appliances eventually break down and need replacement. While this can't be avoided, it also doesn't give you an excuse to be less judicious about their proper care and maintenance. You can check on your heater from time to time. You don't need to be a certified plumber to do this. In fact, it just takes a few minutes at most. While you do need to drain your water supply, this task should be done only twice yearly.

Why Should You Replace Your Hot Water Heater

If you've done all you can and the problems keep coming, then you know it's time to dig into your savings to get a new unit for your home. Don't think of it as expense from your end. Rather, it's an investment you need to make so that you can continue to do your chores with ease.

As mentioned earlier, if you still come across problems and you find yourself calling the plumber often, then you need to consider purchasing a brand new heater for your home. Think of this is an investment. You'll have a unit that'll serve you in the next 15 years or so. Hence, you don't need to think about new heaters for quite some time.

Replacing your old water heater will make a big difference. You won't have to worry about repairs and you'll be able to choose a unit that's perfect for you. More importantly, see to it that you get a brand that's trusted by customers. Before you make the purchase, read about product reviews, and see which ones come highly recommended.

The moment you have your heater replaced, you'll feel a world of difference. You can have your hot water without ever worrying about the tank breaking down. At least not for a while. And before you purchase a hot water heater, see to it that you get a brand that's been proven to be reliable.

Lastly, always set aside a few minutes of your time each week to make sure your heater works properly by checking water temperature and color. Anyone can tell you that by doing this, you'll be able to extend the life of your heater.
