Determining A Real Sheepskin And A Faux Sheepskin Rug

Determining A Real Sheepskin And A Faux Sheepskin Rug

by Jeffrey Reynolds

Human wants does not really end and it cannot be easily satisfied, especially when it comes to clothing. All humans are always discontented about what they have and always look for a new brand of clothing that would suit their style. And almost every week, all the fashion boutiques are releasing a brand new style of apparel just to be in the trend.

A sheepskin is just one of the materials that are often used in clothing and in other decorations. Clothing, nowadays, are often combined with the skins of some animals and these are made especially in the place where the climate is very cold. However, not all shops are using the real skins of sheep, some only used faux sheepskin rug.

These faux sheepskins are imitations of real skins of sheep and are usually made of artificial and mixed with plastic fibers. They are used to blend a certain garment in order for it to look more stylistic. If you wanted to buy a garment that is made up of real sheepskin but you do not know how to detect a real one, here are some techniques in detecting one.

Glance at the brand names. Keep in mind that there are brand names which are using both the synthetic and the real ones. If you have an idea as to what brand names are using the true ones then use it as your advantage. Never forget also to be aware of those that are bringing a brand name but is actually fake.

See the labels. Each original garment often has a label that is being attached. The label of a garment will reveal the composition of that certain garment. They are usually found at the sides and it has a list of the materials being used.

Look at the price. When you can see that the price is very cheap and is quite unbelievable considering the brand name, then they are likely to be fake. Genuine skins constitute a very expensive price since they are not that easy to get some. The shops who truly offered a genuine one would definitely indicate a price that is definitely higher because the supply of such is very minimal.

Feel the item. A true skin of a sheep is certainly soft and smooth to touch. It normally passes through your fingers and it would feel so comfortable. A fake one may be soft but not as soft as the genuine one. It feels a bit coarse compared to the true ones, and it feels so synthetic and a bit sticky since it is also combined with plastic materials.

Strike a pin through the cloth. When you strike the pin through cloth and it passes smoothly then it is probably a synthetic skin because this type is blended with plastic fiber so the pin can run smoothly in it. However, those real skins are very compact and rigid since they really come from real sheep unlike those faux skins which are only artificial. When you strike a pin through a true skin, it would often recoil because of its compactness.

Make sure that when you go to your nearest mall, you have the idea on how to detect a genuine sheepskin from a synthetic one. Various boutiques and shops claim that they offer only those garments that have genuine animal skin material. If you are not very watchful and not well informed, you may not be able to detect who is saying the truth and who is not.
