Vent Fan And Medicine Cabinets For Bathroom

Vent Fan And Medicine Cabinets For Bathroom

by Darren Hartley

A bathroom vent fan is an important part of a bathroom. It removes warm, moist air from the bathroom interior to the outdoors as well as exhausts smelly air from the room. Warm, moist air encourages mold growth and may cause bathroom damage.

Some modern versions of a bathroom vent fan come complete with a light. Other models even offer a heater option. Controlling the fan is through a single-pole switch or a wall-mounted timer. Where it is positioned within the bathroom is a preference of the homeowner. It can be placed over the toilet or in the center of the room. The assurance that it closes properly when not in use is gained through the correct installation of the vent flapper.

Keeping the cold outside air from getting back into the bathroom is the primary function of the flapper of a bathroom vent fan. Similarly, by insulating the flexible hose of the fan, the building up of condensation is prevented. This condensation arises from the difference between the air temperatures inside and outside the bathroom.

While both bathroom medicine cabinets and medicine boxes or chests are basically storage containers for medicine and hygienic products, bathroom medicine cabinets are, in general, pasted on the wall at eye-level height while medicine boxes or chests are free-standing and situated on the floor.

The difference of bathroom medicine cabinets to first aid boxes lie principally on the items they contain. Plasters would be items that would probably be found in both storage facilities. Other than this, bathroom medicine cabinets would basically consists of ointments, pills and creams while first aid boxes would comprise of bandages, tapes and dressings.

The easy organization of bathroom medicine cabinets consists in storing only the most used items inside, leaving everything else is a drawer or under the sink. The jars in the cabinet must be kept clear so that the jar contents are left dry and visible.

For a couple sharing bathroom medicine cabinets, a problem may arise as to what items each one are allowed to keep. Instead of making a list, though, suffice it to say that the cabinet should contain only the items that are used on a daily basis.
