After which, try lathering some soap on a limited area first to try if there is nothing wrong with the mixture or if it would not affect the rug any case possible because that is the least thing you would want.
Put on tiny amount of soap on one part of the carpet and try to see if it affects the color. If it does not then its safe to use so you could go ahead and proceed applying and lathering soap using a sponge or brush on the carpet. Try and settle the soap on it for five minutes before going for a rinse.
Go grab your vacuum again and try to extract as much water as you can on the wet thing. This way, you have a lesser time to wait for the entire thing to dry out. Once done, you could leave it in the area where sun can reach it. Make sure to flip the other side once you noticed that the other is already dry.
Last set of reminder though, to make sure that the inside surfaces of the carpets dry out completely as well, you could at least flip it over to have both sides dry at a time. This is way easier and faster. Of course you would want to make use of your favorite carpet right away after having it cleaned completely.
