Try Decorative Painting Patterns To Spruce Up Old Walls

Try Decorative Painting Patterns To Spruce Up Old Walls

by Jose Turner

Often people look at craft renovation shows in awe at the designs experts are able to make with just a few brush strokes. While some things take years of practice, just about anyone can give new life to a decorative or functional item to be used in the house. All it takes is a few coats of paint, the right clothing, and protection of valuables along with a few decorative painting patterns in the desired shape or size.

When using these for the first time, it helps to secure these with removable tape, especially if a surface is smooth or the user is not accustomed to handling a brush. Long, broad strokes are great for uniformity but if a certain texture is desired short, abstract strokes can create a nice visual. There are also tutorials on how to create various textures using a sea sponge or toothbrush.

Most people would go with a favorite color but sometimes using a combination of colors is the most fun. Let us say that the color scheme of a room is hot pink, navy blue, and pale yellow. Assuming that the blue will be the base color throughout the room, the colors used in the pattern may use blue as the accent color instead.

Although there are no boundaries when creating a new look for personal space, it is best to take as much time as needed. Some people get discouraged when their items do not come out perfect the first time. Sometimes these mistakes can be hard for others to detect but anyone who wants the professional look will find their way with practice.

When using an item to bring color to space, it may help to go with something that gives a little contrast. Vibrant colors like fire engine red, magenta, and royal blue can give neutral or earth tones a nice pop. In most cases, if the item is large enough, it does not require a lot of accompaniments, such as picture frames or Bric a Brac throughout. Perhaps matching another item that is large or medium in size, like an area rug, is ideal for simple decor hacks.

The great thing about most decor templates or patterns they can be used on multiple surfaces. Starting with smaller items is a good way to get acquainted with the painting process. However, moving on to advanced projects require more planning, especially if it is a room or space that is used often.

There are also more complex surfaces in terms of preparation. Often metal requires a primer to stay on surfaces permanently. When working with a wood project, it helps to get educated about different type, as some may benefit from staining instead of color. In some cases, a pattern may be compatible with the different shades of stain but there are books that can act also as a guide.

If a person finds something that they like but wants to change the look, getting ideas from craft or home decor magazines helps a great deal. There are even books that show how to navigate and flip items found at a yard sale or outdoor market. People who learn to master these techniques and receive compliments may find themselves able to make a nice side income.
