The Beauty In Vintage Paintings By TS Harris

The Beauty In Vintage Paintings By TS Harris

by Jeffrey Campbell

As an artist, being able to express thought both in concept and technique can take years even decades to master. Consistent practice and study is required. The way a piece is composed depends highly on what message the artist is trying to convey. Very few are able to do this elegantly and stand out from the crowd, in the world of contemporary art.

Contemporary art has a great way of depicting daily life of the modern times. A notable artist is TS Harris with works that can perfectly adorn any wall. Common themes of her work are mainly the daily lives of modern women surrounded by water. The way Tracey Sylvester has her brush strokes to depict water make a great illusion to the details of steady liquid pool water.

The painter is the product of hard work, dedication and two parents that are both professional artists too. Her works are meant for different kinds of venues and proves that contemporary art is not meant to be lazy, purely conceptual or done for shock value. Essentially her subject and composition are based off of vintage women and aesthetic.

Looking at her work is soothing, maybe because her subject is often surrounded by water. The way she also portrays the movement and effects of water on her subject looks simple but has effectively captured the illusion detail on waves and overall aesthetic structure. Her images are iconic to say the least.

She successfully shows the female form and elegant essence on canvas with her subject often in a beautiful, half coy, half sensual position. What is amazing about her works are how she can perfectly portray the still yet fluid nature of water, on a pool, with seemingly simple strokes. The years she has been with art has honed her technical skill in a manner that she has magnificently shown the illusion of detail in oil.

Her choice of foreground and background give away how much the woman probably loves Los Angeles California, where she is based. Buying her work would be a great investment and would look good in any wall. She has a website that feature a schedule for her up coming gallery shows.

The original pieces can cost you but this is considering that oil paint is the most expensive of paints that an artist can use. This woman paints on 50 by 40 inch canvasses which means that it is a lot of paint. Her work is still worth obtaining even with quite the price tag. Prints are also sold and can be shipped. These can prints can be an 11x14 inch image or one that is as large as a 28 by 36.

The composition and the story that these paintings tell are the most interesting thing about her work. Notice how the women are in most of her works and the positions that they take. Their body language and what they wear can tell you a thing or two about what their lifestyle maybe like and the stories they can tell.

The alluring thing about Harris is how the women feel like they have many secrets worth keeping. Her pieces successfully give us the beauty of women up close and frozen in a setting less complicated than what women have to deal with now. The secrets that all her subjects hold are as interesting as the color palette that the artist uses perfectly catching both aesthetic and essence of mid century high class female woes.
