Taking Care Of Your Hemp Jiu Jitsu Gi

Taking Care Of Your Hemp Jiu Jitsu Gi

A large number of sporting activities require their players to have specific uniforms, or outfits. This is also especially the case when there are a team of players, for example, in a football or hockey match. Karate, as well as all forms of martial arts, require the fighters to wear a certain type of clothing, which can be known as a hemp jiu jitsu gi. Someone who takes their martial arts training seriously will want to take care of their clothing, and look good while they are practicing or when they are up against an opponent.

Martial arts clothing is of a white material that is usually cotton. There are long pants and a jacket, as well as a belt that is tied around the waist of the fighter in a certain manner. Belts are different colors to show the rank of the fighter. The kimono-style jacket and drawstring pants have to be well taken care of, in terms of cleanliness, because a fighter who shows up in stained clothing is considered to be disrespectful.

If gi's are washed in the right way, they can look good for a long time. The washing process must be carefully done, however, because of the white color. White clothing can easily lose their brightness, and are also more easily stained. Before you start washing, make sure you have the correct cleaning agents by including baking soda, borax and vinegar in your shopping list.

Firstly, wash your martial arts outfit separately from other items. There should definitely be no other clothes in the machine that are of a darker color. Using a top-loader washing machine, ensure that it will fill with sufficient water for a small load. The water should also be cold. You can then add the detergent and oxidizing cleaner, as well as the other substances mentioned - one cup of vinegar, one-third cup of borax and one-third cup of baking soda.

Run the washing machine for about thirty seconds so that the detergents and other cleaning agents are well mixed in the water. They should be dissolved in the water. You can then place your martial arts garments into the water and wait for the machine to finish a usual wash cycle.

Take care when drying your outfit as well. If you have good weather, you should hang them outside to dry. This will prolong the life of your garments. When clothing is naturally dried, it also becomes less wrinkled, and ironing is therefore often not necessary.

Some people think they ought to bleach their martial arts outfit. This is, however, not a good idea. Over time, the items of clothing will only start to appear yellow in color, and their thread will become thin. Rather find a good color removal product from the store that will be able to take the stains out.

This method of washing works really well for other items too. For example, you can also wash your sparring gloves or undershirts in the same manner. Your rank belt, however, should never be washed. Washing will cause it to lose its shape and will cause shrinkage. Keep in mind that cold water is always best to use as most gi's are made out of cotton.
