Top Ten Patient Complaints About Their Physicians

Top Ten Patient Complaints About Their Physicians

by Maryl Joop

Being sick is not an ideal situation. Sometimes made worse by the lack of health care or insurance, but definitely not improved by long wait times or poor bedside manner. Here is a list of the top 10 complaints from patients against their physicians.

Usually Your Patience Can Work Wonders In Ensuring That Your Claim Is Handled Correctly And Professionally, But Unfortunately, This Is Not Always The Case.

If Your Insurance Company Has Dealt Unfairly With You Or Has Been Dishonest About Any Of The Aspects Of Your Policy, Then You Have A Number Of Options, The Most Severe Of Which Is Taking Them To Court.

8. Long waits. This is far and away the most complained about by patients, if not the most serious and dire of circumstances. After a long wait in the Waiting Room of Pain patients just want to go home and rest. Don't make it worse by not apologizing or rushing them.

The good news, however, if there can be good news involved with claim denials, is that the vast majority of claim denials can be prevented as they are often due to clerical errors or other similar preventable mistakes that can occur during the process of filing the claim.

Knowing Your Legal Rights As A Client Of Your Insurance Company Can Help You Know What You Have The Power To Demand Certain Things. If An Insurance Company Has Misrepresented Your Policy, Not Processed Your Claim Promptly, Or Denied Your Claim Based On Grounds That Are Unreasonable Or Have Not Been Clearly Explained To You, Your Insurance Rights Have Been Violated, Letting Them Know That You Are Aware Of The Infraction Can Often Help Things Along.

5. Unpleasant staff. Not necessarily about the physician itself, but they will take the blame. Patients have to deal with a lot of people in clinics and hospitals that are not just doctors and they can make their time miserable.

Many Times A Persistent Client Has Been Able To Receive Their Claim Simply By Continuing To Contest It. Court Is Your Last Resort If You Have Taken All Of These Steps And More, And You Still Are Not Seeing Any Progress On What You Have Definitely Determined Is An Illegal Course Of Action (Or Inaction) By Your Insurance Company, Then Court May Be The Only Answer.

Make Sure You Keep Meticulous Records Of Every Part Of The Claim Process To Prove That You Should Be Paid The Specified Amount.. If The Amount In Question Is Low Enough, Use A Small-Claims Court, Since You Do Not Need An Attorney In A Small-Claims Court.

2. Cancelling or rescheduling appointments. Once or twice may be fine but any more than that, a patient will start to get frustrated.

By taking the time to go over each detail of the insurance policy beforehand so that one knows exactly what is and what is not covered by their policy, a person will be able to lessen the chances of having their claim denied.
