by Ian MacOlive

In the ongoing search and development of fire protection Vermiculite plaster has been one of the most beneficial components in ensuring passive fire protection to a ranger of different buildings around the country. Applied in a spray form this is a flame retardant material that it able to combat the possibility of a building or structure being completely engulfed by flames should a fire occur on the premises.

While many building owners and managers are often concerned with what might happen to the building if a fire might occur, they are also concerned about the people that might become trapped within. Vermiculite plaster provides the kind of protection needed to not only reduce the damages to the premises, but will give the occupants time to get out if for some reason a fire might get started.

Smoke alarms and fire extinguishers are obviously just two of the essential things needed to safeguard a building and its occupants in the event of a fire occurring but are not effective in preventing the flames from actually spreading around thereby causing more damage and risking more lives. Vermiculite plaster can do this and so is definitely not something to be dismissed casually.

This is a naturally occurring product that is commonly found in potting soil and is able to expand and protect the walls from the unbelievable temperatures that result during a fire. Of course there is the possibility that the building could be lost or severely damaged but the important thing, and the reason why more people are choosing to have Vermiculite applied, is that it can and does provide enough time for the occupants to get out and get to safety.

Vermiculite plaster is applied as a spray to the walls on the inside of the building and is lightweight. When confronted by the soaring temperatures of a fire Vermiculite is able to maintain the integrity of the concealed steel that is in inside the walls and is able to withstand the high heat that is synonymous with hydrocarbon fires.

This essential and highly beneficial product is both colorless and odorless and there is practically impossible to even see, although it can be obtained in PPC and gypsum for its decorative qualities and is therefore excellent for aesthetic applications. Now there is a textured spray with is available and this is merely applied as a top coat and provide essential fire protection no matter what.

Vermiculite plaster has so many benefits and this is why many more people are opting to use it in their buildings. Although the building might ultimately be ruined; although large financial losses might be incurred in the event of a fire, one thing is for sure Vermiculite plaster offers passive fire protection to the degree that the people have the time and opportunity to get to safety. Since this is a product that you are called upon to trust it is important that you research it fully yourself. You will not be disappointed.
