by Debra Russell

Housing is a fundamental human need. Therefore every person should have access to a decent and affordable home. A person can choose to spend money on covering while for others, they may lack the ability to make this choice due to financial constraints. According to research done by different groups on the house ownership, an individual ability to own the Washington DC affordable housing is dependent on income and wealth.

Those clients who have no income or struggle in paying for rents often have little left to be used for investment or as savings for the future. This has led in people living in slums as they try to raise money to be used in other areas like for buying food. The type of home that a person stays in can influence on the education level of their child. For example, those staying in comfortable homes get to enjoy a pleasant learning environment.

Education can influence the future of a client. This is one of the main reason for the increasing gap between the rich and the poor in society. Housing has adverse effects on the health of a person. Individuals who live in crowded areas are more likely to get infected with diseases such as cholera since it is challenging to maintain good hygiene in these centers.

The relevant government authorities have established several policies to aid in the improvement of housing conditions. For example, they help in the construction of a building. The houses are given to different members of society. For instance, after the installation, a person will register for ownership. You will then be asked to pay for a small fraction of the money depending on your salary level.

Policy makers have come up with ways of ensuring that each citizen gets access to affordable homes. Some of the policies include giving loans to workers so they can buy houses. The government has come up with subsidized housing techniques like the construction of non-profit institutions, public accommodation, and the reduction of rent. Relevant government bodies have developed supportive guard.

This habit was developed since many individuals can get homes at a cheaper cost when living in rural areas. The government and other non-government organizations have come up with a variety of policies as they find a solution to this problem. They have subsidized the fee of building materials thus encouraging different investors to invest in the housing department. Establishment of Sacco has been promoted.

Those individuals who are working can be given a mortgage with no interest rates. Sometimes the governments pay real estate owners some amount of money. For example, they can pay for half the cost of the house. In return, the landlords are required to reduce the value of the guard, thus creating a suitable environment for people from the lower class and lower middle class to be able to afford homes.

Government bodies can construct houses for various individuals. A person is then required to make payments for a prolonged time. Other organizations have helped in building a house for the needy in society, for example, homes for the orphans and street children. The increased cost of living has resulted in increased poverty level as persons use most of the money they would have used in development for paying rent.
