Does Sun Labs Use Dye For Tanning Purposes

Does Sun Labs Use Dye For Tanning Purposes

by Haywood Hunter

It is often a mystery to people how products work to produce a great tan without any exposure to the sun. They are often under the misapprehension that chemical dyes are used to create the tanned look. Does Sun Labs use dye in their sunless tanning products? No, they do not. These products work with an active ingredient which stimulates the pigment in the skin rather than dying it.

Sunless tanning products work by using an ingredient called Dihydroxyacetone (DHA). Does Sun Labs use dye that is a chemical? No, it uses a chemical that works on the amino acids in skin. A chemical compound is formed which makes skin cells of the epidermis darker. Does Sun Labs use dye which can damage the skin? No, although the ingredient used as a chemical it is not harmful.

The chemical DHA is approved by the FDA for external application to the human body, which is the way these products are intended to be used. It is not approved yet for use on the lips, eye areas and other areas covered by mucous membranes. However, application in these areas is easily avoided. Does Sun Labs use dye? No, skin is not just stained or given a temporary color. There is a chemical reaction which occurs in the skin but this does not mean that chemical dyes are used to cause this.

Does Sun Labs use dye that works like a bronzer? No, a bronzer is a product which gives skin temporary color but it can usually be washed off with soap and water. It is temporary in nature and is often used to conceal uneven skin tone and blemishes. A sunless tanning product on the other hand is more permanent in nature. Does Sun Labs use dye that has a permanent effect? No, the natural process of shedding skin cells regularly affects the permanence of the tan. It fades as the dead cells are shed.

Many sunless tanning products made in the past produced horrible effects. They were no substitute for a natural tan, often having an orange appearance or a streaky effect. Since then there have been great strides made in the industry. Does Sun Labs use dye to create a natural looking tan? No, a natural tan looking tan is created without affecting skin negatively in any way.

The ingredients found in these products are not harmful to skin. They actually contain ingredients which are good for skin, such as moisturizers and nutrients which nourish skin and prevent it from drying out. Does Sun Labs use dye or other ingredients harmful to the skin? No, it is much better for skin to use such a product than to go out into the damaging rays of the sun.

Today we are more aware of just how much damage can be caused to skin when lying in the sun, from premature aging with wrinkling to skin cancer. It is important to remember that you may look brown, this does not mean that it is actually protected against the sun. Does Sun Labs use dye and contain a sun block? No, skin is still sensitive to the harmful rays and a sun block with UV protection still needs to be worn.

Does Sun Labs use dye? No, they do not require any dyes for their products to work. Instead of dying skin, a chemical causes a reaction in skin cells producing the required result. You are left with a glowing, natural looking tan without any of aging effect on skin by tanning outdoors.
