Types Of Fleas, By Alternative Earthcare

Types Of Fleas, By Alternative Earthcare

by David Kellan

Pest control is one of the most important services that Alternative Earthcare, not to mention other companies, can provide to the general public. This is especially true when you bring fleas into the equation, which can affect more than just your pets. As a matter of fact, you might not know that different species of fleas exist. For those who are unaware, here are some of the most common species in question to be mindful of.

Dog Flea - Perhaps the most common type of flea is the one that dogs seem to attract. For those who do not know, dog fleas are most commonly found in the fur of canines, even though they've been known to bite cats and humans as well. Regardless, in terms of appearance, dog fleas are dark brown in color, gaining more of a reddish tone following feeding. This is just one of the many species that you'd be wise to keep an eye out for.

Cat Flea - While these seem to be found only on the fur of felines, cat fleas are bothersome in their own right. According to authorities the likes of Alternative Earthcare, they are drawn to carpets and cushions, meaning that they can be rather difficult to eliminate. It also doesn't help that they can grow to be even bigger than dog ticks, too. This is where specialists from Hampton tick control companies can come into the picture.

Chicken Fleas - For farmers in particular, chicken fleas are worth focusing on. They have been known to use the aforementioned birds as hosts and can even go so far as to use chicken hoops as their homes. Chicken fleas are light brown in appearance and, like most pests, can be very difficult to detect with the naked eye. This is yet another reason why you would be wise to hire a specialist to take care of the problem.

Human Fleas - As you'll come to learn, animals aren't the only creatures that can attract pests. Human fleas, as you could assess by their name, use human beings as their hosts for feeding. What this can result in, depending on the situation, is illness. However, due to the regular hygiene that men and women carry out, the likelihood of attracting pests is rather small. This doesn't change the fact that overall wellness is stressed.
